Evil Eye Symptoms — How to Know If You're Affected

Physical Symptoms

The most common physical symptoms of the evil eye include: Sudden, unexplained severe headaches — especially felt in the center of the forehead. Persistent weakness and fatigue despite adequate sleep. Nausea and loss of appetite. Heaviness and burning sensation in the eyelids. Unexplained fever — especially common in children. Excessive yawning without medical cause — this is one of the key evil eye signs. Unexplained pain in legs and arms. Skin issues — particularly sudden redness or rashes on the face.

Spiritual and Emotional Symptoms

The evil eye shows not only physical but also spiritual symptoms: Restless sleep and nightmares — especially dreams of falling, being chased, or drowning. Sudden mood swings — unexplained sadness, anxiety, or irritability. Loss of motivation — disinterest in activities you once loved. Streak of bad luck — consecutive setbacks at work, school, or relationships. Difficulty concentrating and forgetfulness. Social withdrawal — desire to distance yourself from people. Inner restlessness — the feeling that "something is wrong." Changes in home energy — restlessness at home, objects breaking unexpectedly.

How to Test for the Evil Eye

Several traditional methods are used in Anatolia to detect the evil eye. Olive oil test: Drop a few drops of olive oil into a glass of water. If the oil floats on the surface, there is no evil eye; if it disperses or sinks, the evil eye is present. Salt test: Circle a handful of salt three times over the person's head and throw it into fire — if the salt crackles while burning, the evil eye is present. Lead pouring: The shape of molten lead poured into water indicates the presence and source. Needle test: Drop a needle into a glass of water — if it sinks, the evil eye is present. These are traditional methods and do not replace medical diagnosis.
