Television

Full Interpretation

Televisions in dreams represent passive observation, external influence, messages from the unconscious, and the way you receive or process information about the world. Watching television suggests you may be observing life rather than actively participating in it. Seeing yourself on television reverses the position entirely and raises the question of how you believe you are being watched and judged by others. A screen full of static, or a giant screen you cannot look away from, describes a message that is trying to reach you through interference or an influence that has grown far larger than you intended. Psychologically, the TV screen symbolises the projections of your unconscious mind — the programmes you watch in dreams often contain symbolic messages about your inner state. A broken TV indicates disrupted communication or the inability to receive important information. Spiritually, television in dreams warns against passively absorbing others' narratives instead of living your own authentic story. Consider what you have been letting play in the background of your mind, and whether you chose it.
